D.R.A.M. proudly represents Virginia, so it makes sense that he would be homage to one of the state's biggest hip-hop stars. D.R.A.M. takes Missy Elliott's 1999 single "Hot Boyz" and turns it into his own creation called "Don't Let D.R.A.M. Be a Hot Boy."

The song sees D.R.A.M. employing that same mixture of rapping and singing that Missy Elliott has used to great success, just as D.R.A.M. is doing now in his career. But despite being a beat jack, the Virginia native is able to make this record his own unique creation. This genre bending style is something that D.R.A.M. is known for, just as he told XXL last year.

"My style is indescribable," D.R.A.M. said. "I literally want to continue to do shit that I can’t even put my finger on. Sometimes I have to sit down and try to figure out what influence I used to get what I put out there. I just never like to be ordinary. Just a little random things; I may find a scarf and shit and throw that shit around my neck. Or fuck up my shoes on purpose. I just don’t want to be blended in with shit. I think too many people are worried about how other people perceive him in regards to the culture. I can give a fuck."

D.R.A.M. is currently in the running for the 10th spot on XXL's coveted Freshman list. If you would like to see the "Cha Cha" rapper/singer on that list, make sure you vote before the ballot closes at the end of this week!
