Young Thug may have been going at Future with the tweet, "Boy slow down dropping all that BS music..." but that hasn't stopped the eccentric rapper from dropping new music in abundance himself, the most recent of which is Friday's release I'm Up. What was originally supposed to be Slime Season 3, Thugger had a Yeezy like change of heart earlier in the week, writing on Twitter, "I'm on my shit, fuck ss3.....
It's now 'IM-UP' tweet up."

A man of his frequently garbled word, Thug dropped the nine track mixtape late Thursday evening (Feb. 4). Leading with the Quavo-assisted single "F Cancer," I'm Up also boasts features from Lil Durk, Trouble, Offset, Solo Lucci and more. Also on the mixtape is the Metro Boomin'-produced "Hercules" which first dropped in mid-November. With reports that Thugger has 10 unreleased projects and 40 songs recorded with Kanye West, one has to wonder how much of I'm Up has been pieced together from random sessions and one-off recordings. Similarly, the question remains if Slime Season 3 has been scrapped entirely or simply shelved for the time being.

Or perhaps the key to accepting Young Thug is to leave such questions and formalities at the door. He's been able to string mixtapes together through singles like "Hercules," "F Cancer" and "Thief in the Night," conventional rollout and packaging be damned. I'm Up represents Thug's first release since dropping "Hercules" and November's Slime Season 2. The mixtape is available for streaming via Soundcloud above.
