It’s been over a decade since Jay Z, in the middle of his swan song (and in a perfect storm of self-promotion and anxiety about the state of New York hip-hop) lamented his decision not to rhyme as intricately as Talib Kweli. Ironically, two Roc-A-Fella releases after The Black Album, Kanye West's The College Dropout would usher in an era where Kweli was, for a minute, a viable mainstream commodity. But in recent years, he's smartly retreated back to his base, appealing to those who like the kind of smart, downbeat hip-hop that often struggles to get release dates in today's climate. Kweli has linked up with the North Carolina-bred producer 9th Wonder, formerly of Little Brother, and together the two have an LP due out Nov. 6. The latest single, which was previously debuted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonis "Every Ghetto," where Kweli is paired with 9th's longtime protege, Rapsody. Listen below:
