Almost 45 years ago, the leaders of almost 70 New York gangs met in a cramped gymnasium in the Bronx. In what came to be known as the Hoe Avenue peace meeting, city and police officials looked on as the gang leaders tried to strike a truce of sorts to honor the life of Cornell "Black Benjie" Benjamin, a peacekeeper from the Ghetto Brothers who was killed while trying to break up a fight. That meeting is immortalized this year in Rubble Kings, a Shan Nicholson-directed documentary that focuses on gang violence in the Bronx in the early 1970s. The soundtrack is being issued through Mass Appeal records; as such, it only makes sense that the label would tap its marquee act for the single. El-P and Killer Mike, fresh off their Meow The Jewels remix album, inject some trunk-rattling anarchy into the proceedings. The soundtrack is available in full Oct. 30.
