There was a time when Lil Wayne, standing all of five feet and five inches tall, towered over the rest of the hip-hop world. Sneering and snarling, he picked fights with his elders and took everyone's beats for himself. But it's a young man's sport, and you're not going to be top dog forever. In 2015, Wayne has to pick his battles; he also has to rely on wit and charm more than menace. So for his verse on O.T. Genasis' "Do It," he opens, "I keep waking up with these strippers/I keep telling myself I'm gonna change/But they keep sending me these naked pictures/And I'm about to get 'em all framed." For his part, the "Coco" star gets more technical than some might be used to. His next mixtape, R&B (Rhythm and Bricks) is expected soon, and could shed some more light on the Atlanta native's artistic leanings.
