If you need proof that the American justice and law enforcement systems are deeply and fundamentally corrupt, look no further than Young Thug. A spat with a mall cop and a couple of song lyrics were enough for a full-scale invasion of Thug's Georgia home, where authorities found an ounce of marijuana, less than a gram of cocaine and three guns, which the rapper's lawyer says are legally owned and registered by members of his security detail. Still, he's been charged with Possession of a Firearm During a Felony, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution or Sale of Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine. So, bearing those legal troubles in mind, we'll assume that the titular poultry in "I Need Chickens" is, in fact, a flock of birds that Young Thug would like to raise for his own enjoyment. Mike WiLL Made It, who also produced Thug's most recent single, "Pacifier," posted the song to his Soundcloud with the qualifier "Unfinished demo," but as with most of Thug's throwaway output, it's forward-thinking and technically dazzling. What you hear in the background are traces of the title track from Outkast's Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.
