For someone who's enjoyed a considerable amount of attention from the mainstream media, Fetty Wap releases an awful lot of music direct to his Soundcloud account (to say nothing of his enduring, immortal money phone shot, which serves as the cover art for most releases). His latest cut, "1738," carries the neo-Future warbling to its natural conclusion, where each bar is a bloodletting. The 2015 XXL Freshman has yet to enjoy a breakthrough mixtape or EP, but "Trap Queen" and "My Way" are in perpetual rotation at radio, and he could dip to a tropical hideout for the rest of his days, and still live on in infamy on Vine. He's currently embroiled in a bizarre bit of legal controversy, with a ShopRite cashier saying Fetty was among the three men who assaulted him in a checkout line. In any event, "1738" could be a testament to the New Jersey MC's staying power, and to the joys of his Soundcloud. It's no "RGF Island," but still.
