Having recently remixed Iggy Azalea's Charli XCX-featuring smash hit, "Fancy," So So Def veteran Da Brat is trying her hand at more cutting-edge fare. Taking to Soundcloud, she dropped her remix of Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen," a decidedly avant garde flip for the esteemed veteran. The original song was recently tapped by Kanye West as one of his favorite pieces of contemporary rap; Da Brat's inversion catches her surprisingly nimble, catching cadences that would have been entirely foreign when she debuted back in 1994 with Funkdafied. While she has been in the news in recent years for a litany of legal troubles, she has not dropped an official solo LP since 2003. Could these remixes be a precursor to a comeback? Check back with XXL for updates.
