The N.E.R.D. reunion has taken an unpredictable turn as the group has been in the studio together to record new original songs the upcoming SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water soundtrack. Along with releasing two new songs, "Patrick Star," and "Sandy Squirrel" today, the group also dropped a video for the previously released "Squeeze Me." Chad Hugo spoke with Variety about the songs saying, "We're trying not think too much in a cartoon sense, but more just like a psychedelic, otherworldly type of thing. If you want to draw a parallel, maybe think of what The Beatles did with Yellow Submarine."

The tracks are definitely aimed at kid fans of the show and are about as lighthearted as can be for a group who made songs like "Lapdance" once upon a time. Hopefully we will still get more music for the older generation from N.E.R.D. in the future. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water is in theaters Feb. 6.
