If you're tired of singing-ass rappers, you should still give Pell a shot. There's a certain gravitas and shrillness in the New Orleans artist's voice that sets him apart from the emo-hollowness of Drake and Childish Gambino's crooning.

"Wait On Me" is a solid case in point. Over starry and melancholic production with a similarly emotional Dent May on the hook, Pell makes being in the feels digestible through his slippery cadence. He's a decent storyteller, too; the lyrical details poke through the ambience.

The video has a similarly dreamy feel, from the quickly edited arguments to Pell's glassy eye peering through the dark. Watch it above.
