In the new issue of NME Jay-Z pays tribute to fallen legend Michael Jackson, and in doing so he revealed a piece of music history that until now was unknown.
Aparrently Jiggaman has collaborated with MJ in more occasions than fans were aware of. According to the Brooklyn rapper, Jackson sang on “Girls, Girls, Girls” on the original Blueprint album. “He was on my song ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, singing these background vocals and I didn’t even put his name on it,” Jay wrote.
Hov linked up with the King of Pop on the song “You Rock My World” as well and also brought him onstage during 2001’s Summer Jam. “He played a concert with me in New York, which was great,” Jay continued. “He got up and he walked out and the place went mental, guys were just grabbing their hats and throwing them like, “Aiiiiiiiiiieeeeee!”
Hova has an interesting take on Michael’s death. “I try to look for the meaning in things that happen, and it was a tragedy that Michael Jackson passed away, especially for his kids,” he said. “But on the other side, I think it gave Michael a chance to be celebrated for the genius he was without all the other stuff in the way, and I don’t know if that would ever have happened had he been alive.” –Elan Mancini

Because it’s a hoax. Not even considering star power, do you really hear Michael in the background to “Girls Girls Girls”? Not I.

XXL needs to clarify the title and actually let people know he was on the remix, not the original. You can hear him in the beginning. Everybody knows he’s on the remix.
The reason Jay didn’t put his name on the record is because the track was hidden. It’s untitled and uncredited on the album. Obviously, NOBODY’s name is going to be on it.

C’mon Jigga, we don’t believe you, you need more people. In the making-of edition in XXL, you didn’t even mention it. I bought that album twice, ain’t no Mike in there. All I heard was Slick Rick and Biz Markie. Do you really need to make shit up like that? I mean, you won everything in every aspect in this hiphop thing, do you really feel the need to make shit up at this level???

RDS says:
There were 2 cases brought against Mike. The first one was over a decade ago and just this past summer the kid in that case came forth and admitted Mike NEVER touched him. He said his father made him say that to get the money. Mike, not thinking, put himself in a scenario that looked awkward. It was an easy sell to a jury and he made it go away with a settlement.
I don’t claim to know everything there is, but if you actually read what happened, it’s clear Mike was taken advantage of in that situation and likely in the second situation (the more recent suit). But seriously, this lame-ass shit really needs to stop. The man can’t rest in peace because people wanna crack stupid-ass jokes regarding something he didn’t even do. Grow up.

Menace are you fuckin ignorant or just don’t know how sampling goes ? you can rap or sing something and have it sped up. Remember Mike ad a high pitch to his voice anyway so his voice with an effect to it will sound even higher or like a sample. Remember samples come from someone singing or rapping something. Just like that chopped n screwed stuff. And what reason would Jay have to lie for ? he’s not a new rapper or a one hit wonder looking for some kind of credentials because they never really made it. If you do your research there was several songs that Michael jackson did back up on and never got credit because he didn’t want to over shadow the artist he was singing for.He just got paid I’m sure and kept it moving. Yeah it’s a clear sample. A clear sample of Michael Jackson LOL your a discrace to the 305 lol

You niggas is silly, if Michael Jackson did a ad-lib on the remix, why would Jay HAVE to credit his name for that, when the nigga just brought MJ out in the flesh on Summer Jam the same year?
You acting like it would be a boost for Jay-z to mention it or something, lol, the nigga got Michael Jackson to come out on stage, he don’t need to prove he was on the album after that. Other than James Brown or Diana Ross, who the fuck got Michael Jackson to just show up, at a rap concert no less?

Why would the man lie when he’s got a mainstream RMX with the man on record??? And brought the man to one of his shows?
Y’all sheeple believe whatever you wish. I have a cut with MJ doing vocals. Background sh*t. I dropped that history on XXL when the man passed.
And it don’t matter if anyone believes me. My copy & experience is MY treasure.
So what the man sang background vocals on Jigga’s song. It only shows the man liked hip hop. Appreciate it.

VOICE OF REASON:
It can be a sped up sample and have the person singing vocals on it AT THE SAME TIME. I have to get home to listen, but you do know what BACKGROUND vocals mean, right. If u sing a hook, thats not ‘background vocals’. So thats obviously not wat he was saying. He means, to give the sample more of a real sound, you have a singer sing ‘under’ the sample. Plenty of famous people sing background and go unnoticed.

I dont kno if u only listened to the beginning of the song, but the hook is not a sample…it is re-sung by women….and you can hear a very Micheal Jackson-ish “wooo-ooo” in the background…but whether u hear it or not is inconsequential.. background vocals arent meant to be heard or distinguished…they are used to make something sound more full…again stop listening to the beggining and the end, those are the sample…listen to the hook after his verse, that’s not the sample

i listened to that whole song several times, i’ve still yet to hear anything resembling mike. there being a “wooo-ooo” in the song doesn’t necessarily mean that it was mike that made that sound, he influenced mad musicians with his style, it could have been someone else. personally, it didn’t sound like mike to me, but other folks have other opinions clearly, so it is what it is. i know a lot of time artists do background vocals and it you can’t distinguish them, yet this is michael jackson we’re talking about, even his background vocals should be distinguishable. niggas knew it was him in that rockwell song.

OK! OK! OK! First off, we all need to pull our pants up and calm the fuck down…………
That being said, I didn’t believe this shit off-hand. I have 2 copies, I went back to listen to the remix, and still couldn’t get Mike’s vocals on it. My man $yk said he got a treasure, maybe somethin I couldn’t get. Anything is possible. I mean we talk about Jay-Z here, that’s why my first question was why would he make shit up ? I don’t hate on him or nothing, I’m just sceptical. But it’s Jay, and he can get whoever he wants, even a fuckin Gov’nor to testify on his behalf if needed. Who has that ?
All I hope is that someday, Jay will have a joint with the man, my nigga Prince, that’d be epic. He did it with Mike, with Lenny Kravitz, Linkin Park…….he just need to get in a booth with Prince (no Jamie Foxx blushing on the giraffe eyes).
