In my opinion, Cam sold these records just because of who he is. He had no mainstream promotion on this one. He said on MTV he put out crime pays “just to get it out there” and next album will have more promotion. Cam didn’t spend cake on promotion on this one. So really, Cam comes out as the winner here. Hes on an independent so he got $ from this album, unlike jimmy who is on a major. Crime pays is a solid B GRADE album. Fuks wit it!!

Hip Hop as a big revenue machine is officially dead, these numbers (although nothing new), shows how having a consumer go into a store and purchasing a hard copy of a hip hop disk is now NOT the thing to do. Releasing albums to the stores is no longer what a label wants to do if they have any sense about them, it serves them better to put it on the nets at fever pace or have a street team sell it out the trunks, then have “lil Leroy” and them download it from CD baby or Itunes.

It’s time for Eminem’s Relapse to do some big numbers… After that 50’s Before I Self Destruct can defenitly safe the game…

Crime Pays is a solid release, but some of the tracks sound dated, u can tell he just wanted to throw his name back in the ring! I’m sure his next release will be more focused! i dont go by who sells more, cuz i know that most people dont buy da albums.. we just download it. crime pays is like a 7.. a few good songs… before being able to download albums online, i most likely would have bought the album, but i just download them. maybe 1-2 times a year i might buy an album.. i that.
