With his true-to-life lyrics and heartfelt bars, getting in touch with his roots has never been a problem for L.A. rapper Blu. So, it’s only fitting that left coast MC is in New York City recording with The Roots, cutting tracks for the band’s upcoming ninth studio album How I Got Over due in June on Def Jam.
The XXL Freshman is honored to be recording with ?uestllove and company according to his manager Jonathan Kim, who talked to XXLMag.com in an exclusive interview. “Blu has been a fan of [The Roots] since Organix. It’s an amazing opportunity for us, [The Roots] have been extremely gracious in allowing Blu to be apart of their next album.”
As far as his own major label debut on Warner/Sire, Kim remains tight-lipped but has revealed that Blu will begin recording in the coming weeks. – Rob Markman

Now THIS is a new artist that DESERVES support. Not some watered down blend of Wayne & Conye trying to sing to tone deaf broads! An MC that actually SAY SOMETHING of significance, something relatable, with a great flow, humor and humility.
Blu for the win.
Flake for the landfill.

Good to see him doing his thing. I was worried that going major would slow his work flow.

No, no conspiracy theory. Just reporting the news.
Why does there have to be a hidden agenda?
