With Notorious still heating up theaters, earning an estimated $32 million in box office sales after two weeks, the film’s screenwriter Cheo Hodari Coker is in the process to tackle yet another hip-hop biopic.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Coker – who along with writing Notorious’ screenplay also penned Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife of The Notorious B.I.G. - has signed on to adapt Bill Adler’s Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-D.M.C.–The Authorized Biography for the big screen.
The Run-D.M.C. flick hopes to engage the same viewing audience as the Biggie biopic, this time delving into the lives of rap legends Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell - whose life was cut short when he was shot and killed in 2002.
As Run-D.M.C. takes their ambitious life story to Hollywood, they will also be honored with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 4th; the second rap act in history to make it to the esteemed institution.
In related news, Jam Master Jay was also recently commemorated at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival with a documentary created by protégé 50 cent. The documentary, Two Turntables and a Microphone: The Life and Death of Jam Master Jay will be one of the first films released off of 50’s emerging film production company, Cheetah Vision and will be packaged along with a special edition of his upcoming album Before I Self Destruct. - Rosario Velazquez

I got some bad news for ya playa. If I know hollywood, the 3rd act is going to be about how Jay found 50 cent, gets shot, leaving 50 to carry on his legacy. Is that what u really want to pay $10 to see. Believe me, the last 30 minutes of the movie is going to be the 50 show. Run D.M.C deserves better than that. Also, I can tell you’re angry at me by the way u used all caps. CALM DOWN MU’FUCKA. It’s just bloggin. Peace.

It’s kinda sad that the younger generation can text all got damn day, but can’t work a keyboard, a skill that every working man should have(the shift key is just a finger away.) As for the other dumbass thing u responded with, 50 is just another half-ass M.C.(see, that was a dash. that’s part or grammer too) that is riding the coattails of someone better than him to get paid(Dre, Eminem, do i need to say more?) He can’t rap or act. Didn’t his “show” just get canceled. You’re welcome to call your next witness. PEACE.

34 myself, last day of May. Born/RAISED by Hip Hop Community via Detroit (pronounced DEE-Troit.. that’s our accent). Went to grade school with Aaliyah and Proof (never met JDilla but DAMN!! How many hits can ONE city take?? Well… we are MOTOWN.. them dudes die left and right, SMH).
I REALLY knew Proof. And btw his name is DeShaun Holton (Bless the Dead) and he was a HELLUVA lotta fun to hang out with. Yeah, he liked to to fight a lot (we got into a crazy-ass playgroung fight in 5th grade once… soooo funny) but the man was an ANGEL to be around. And he’d kick your fave rapper up his ASS!!!
Best HH movie EVAR (hi Bol) for me is Krush Groove. This might change because I’m going to go out and rent the following… after the Superbowl..
*Beat Street
*Disorderlies (Hip Hop movie???????)
*Tupac “Resurrection”
*See the movie NOTOURIOUS
Well, that’s all I can think of right now.. but I’ll be watching for yall input too, of course.
CHEERS!

I see ya 7Mile. Fav scene? Debut of LL Cool J(Not the big-headed, lip-lickin, creatine overdosing LL, but the Kangol rockin, hard-spittin, big-ass cassette player-bumpin LL.)
As far as this movie goes, I just hope it doesn’t get the “Notorious Treatment.” Notorious looked like some made for t.v. shit. You can tell Puffy was trying to go for some “I found Biggie, so I’m the real hero” shit. I’m just saying it could have been better (Gravy and Angela did their thing though.) I just don’t want to see the same thing happen to the group that made me love hip hop. I could go for the unauthorized documentary thought.
P.S. Q-Tip brought it back hard on the Renaissance. Didn’t expect that.

The pool scene when them niggas was spyin on the broad over the wall, pink ass boobs flailin when she went down the slide.
My moms took me to the Baldwin Hills theater to see that & Robocop. How the fuck u take a boy to see them shits in one night. Oh yeah, by bein drunk all the time.
