• Uncle Murda Splits With Def Jam

Tuesday Jan 13 1:15 PM CST posted by xxl staff

In an interview with DJ Vlad, Brooklyn rapper Uncle Murda revealed that he is no longer on Def Jam Recordings.

Murda signed with the label under Jay- Z’s “Carter administration in 2007, but since Hov’s departure he said everything went sour. “I’m no longer with Def Jam,” he said. “Things didn’t work out over there once Jay-Z left it was like you know, they didn’t really know what to do with Uncle Murda after that.” [Watch Below]

The gangsta rapper, who made headlines in January of 2008 after he was the victim of a gunshot wound to the head, says that while he is no longer on Def Jam , he is still with his mentor DJ Green Lantern and Violator Management. “We were just with [Violator big] Chris Lighty in Miami for the new year,” he added in good spirits. “I was at my first P. Diddy party.”

An optimistic Murda parted by saying he just dropped the new mixtape Back on my Bullshit and he’s ready to sign another deal. “I’m still relevant,” he declared. “I’m still that nigga. And we gonna get a new situation.” – Elan Mancini

any nigga tryna get in a situation is a failure. Thats like you already at the court, suited up and all that but nobody is picking you up. Free Agent. And thats what happen to niggas who try to get in the game any way they can. End up in the game, fucked up situation but name already out there-back out the game, then expect people to see themas new when they get back in. I agree with enlightened, it’s a wrap. Why would anybody sign to the 2nd String-A-Fella? Thats the Roc with Tru Life and Foxy Brown (and you Uncle Murda) Plus nigga yo name…..Uncle, Murder. How appealing is that? I kinda feel stupid asking a nigga if he heard that “Uncle Murder” nigga might laugh at me

WTF is a Uncle Murda? He does look Tony Yayo-ish (read: old as shit) to be some bodies uncle, so I get that part. But the murder part I don’t get. Is it because somebody with no aim tried to murder him? Or is this just another case of rappers talking about shit they don’t do? If you say he murdered his career because he’s wack as shit, then I might agree with you. But his name still sucks monkey balls.

I predict that after months of not landing in “a new situation”, we will be hearing diss records from this clown towards Gay-Z.

Real Talk. I never thought about that- a label can leak they own artist’s shit to keep slavin’ they ass. Or you can be your own boss and leak or release your own shit. Unless you still like gettin shitted on contractually like Cold Crush

Hell yeah!, I notice they always trying to get unsigned artist to come to conferences, really what they do is listen to your material. Get their writers to listen rearrange your material ( so they won’t face a lawsuit) or copyright Infrigment. They stay snaking, who needs a label, I got 100 people to listen to my music, I’m happy. better to own your shit ,and move when you want too, than to be pushed like a slave, or pimped like ah hoe. Alot of Artist sign other Artist and, never release them, So they won’t take their shine. So they sign them , lead them on in to thinking they got they back, when they know that nica nicer than them so, they just shelf him. then when his buzz gone, drop’em from da label. With out a pot to piss in. That’s why I say fuck da Industry with no vasealine. Majority of them Nica’s is why Hip-Hop is in da State its in, its going back to the Streets. Push your Own shit, If you Hot , You Hot! If your Not , Your not. Simple

I cosign, but there’s only one problem. The PEOPLE decide whats hot. And by the looks of the fans today, they DONT whats hot. Believe it or not, I’ve found niggas who said that Big L was wack!!

Would you say Plies is hot? To me, he sucks ass. But this nigga had a whole movement in FLA and a mass following. I used to own a club, and booked shows for this nigga off his MIXTAPES. I think he’s trash on a hot summer day, but people love this dude for some reason. I know niggas who would destroy him, but they dont get booked for shows.

Unfortunately, being a good rhymer isnt enough nowadays. These youngins also want “real shit” and “swag”. Ugh.

    classic.

uncle murder is an ok rapper. on the few joints that i heard him he was solid but proved he was not ready for the big leagues by getting murked by fab and countless others.

the recent classic green latern freestyle session with free, beans, styles p was good. but of course, he was fourth place again.

it would be cool if he got the same deal that tru life got in his walking papers (300k).
