Da Snowman knows how to sell a few things or two. And now Young Jeezy is set to take his hustle to the Web. The Def Jam star announced the launch of USDA2Day.com. The site will blog and serve as a social networking hub for all things Jeezy and CTE related. The first project to be promoted will be Blood Raw’s debut solo project, My Life The True Story, due June 17. The site will also host Jeezy’s new mixtape, The Prime Minister, available for download beginning June 14.
Immortal Technique is sponsoring a writing contest for high school students in conjunction with his Green Lantern-backed project The 3rd World. “The 3rd World Writing Contest” calls for students to write about their perception of the United States’ relations to Third World countries. “Sometimes during the solace of a revolutionary life and the great responsibility of working with community organizations, gangs, prisoners, parolees, soldiers, and youth in general, I write all that I see,” Technique said in a statement. “I write constantly. That is how [this contest] came around, in the middle of working on The Middle Passage and Revolutionary Vol. 3. I couldn’t help but script the way I saw the world.” The 500-750 word essays will be judged by the outspoken rapper and the winner will receive upwards of $1500; $3,000 total will be given out to the top three winners. The deadline to enter is July 8. For more info vist: [The3rdWorldContest]
Veteran rapper Tech N9ne is set to release his new independent project, Killer, July 1. The album features collaborations with Ice Cube, Scarface, and Paul Wall, among others. The LP will be the second notable project of the year for the rapper. Earlier this year, in April, Tech N9ne put out his DVD, “The Pyschumentary,” a visual narrative of his life in his native Kansas City.—XXL staff
