Say Hello To Jonathan “JR” Rotem’s New Artist Auburn

The Twin Cities aren’t just where the Republican National Convention are taking place, they’re also where producer JR Rotem’s latest signee, Auburn, hails from. She’s 18 years old and my understanding is that she was signed, like Sean Kingston, off Myspace. Crazy. Anyway, check out the Beluga Heights artist’s first official single, which is an updated take on Bobby McFerrin’s classic, “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” I think this song has some good potential.

Auburn- “She’s Happy”

What do you think, has JR gone overboard with his sampling of popular tunes? Is Auburn talented? Does she suck? Do you never wanna hear shit like this ever again? Do you want more?

SPEAK ON IT!!!

  • the stuy

    He BODIED that sample!!

  • EReal

    Joke-pot gets the BOOZAK!

    Support NYC Graff!

I hope Bobby mc ferrin gets every fucking penny of the publishing and full production credit.

  • SOUTHSIDE A-TOWN

yea. definitley not feelin this, but it has potential w/ the teeny boppers.

JR Rotem.. “I can play keyboards” ” I can play Jazz”… “But all I do is make tracks that sound like Scott Stortch, Dre, Pharell and every other producer out there” “I used to talk shit about producers who “cant play” and only sample” But now all I do is rip off other artists and replay 80′s songs.. Bust it baby 2 (Janet Jackson), SOS (Sample Cell), Beautiful Girl (Ben e King).. Rotems made some cools trax but when is this dude going to come up with his OWN sound ????

The girl is cool BUT i AGREE WITH dj ashy fingerz..Bobby Mcferrin better get every single penny…This song is basicly on big loop of a much more superior song. And most of the time they cheat the artists out of royaltys buy releasing it as a “leak” track so they can use the single but not have to pay for the sample.

Wooow……….the female version of Sean Kingston………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………and its weird cus the female counterpart is superior to the original………………………………………………………………………………..which is also weird cus I just called Sean Kingston original……………………………………………………………………………..I’ll just take Bob’s version

JR Rotem is lame and I have always said it. Just because you can play that doesn’t make you a dope hiphop producer. This fool doesn’t have a sound because he has no true feel for the music i.e. soul.

  • Shawty J

The song was okay until the hook came up, at that point, things got ugly, QUICK! At that point too much is going on with the beat, the little rapped part sounds forced and the auto-tune mucks it pretty badly as well.

I’m tired of JR and his generic beats. For every good beat I hear, I hear two or three wack ones. The Game messed up by putting him on his album three times. If this man can play every instrument, instead of chopping samples he should just interpolate the song with his own instruments.

    DAT SHIT WAS COOL.

  • Jerod

I like the song, but that track too much like the original. It was tight though, I liked it. And yes, the Auburn was awesome. Damn.

  • ProDunkgirl

I can’t believe that I turned off Jay just to listen to this mess. People will eat it up.but that shit is sickening ……..just like Sean Kingston

I like JR but this is worse than Puffy in 98′(think about it) HE needs to keep up shit like The Boss and let this go.

  • Maria

I like Auburn, she’s a sweetie! I met her at the So Long to Summer Bash in Loveland yesterday and she has a beautiful voice! She definitely has talent and she deserves to go far!
