R.I.P. Isaac Hayes

I'm ripping and running, so I don't have time to write a whole entire post dedicated to the memory of Isaac Hayes....

I was in the car with my father a short while ago when the news came on that Isaac Hayes had died this morning. It hit me kinda hard. I know we lose notable entertainers almost like every day now (R.I.P. Bernie Mac as well), and while I mourned James Brown and Bo Diddley, Isaac Hayes is a different story altogether. Mainly because the list of artists whose music I listen to literally on a daily basis- just to get me through life- is a short one. And Isaac is on top of that list. I was just listening to Isaac Hayes last night. His music  had a profound effect on me, as well as the way I approach my own music.

I'll have a more retrospective post most likely tomorrow... but for now, R.I.P. Isaac Hayes....  August 20th, 1942- August 10th, 2008
