Janelle Monae Remembers Amy Winehouse As A ‘Sweet Girl’

As the entire entertainment community mourns the loss of talented singer Amy Winehouse, an outpouring of support from stars and fans have been ongoing since her tragic passing this past Saturday (July 23). Continuing in that long line of kind words for the fallen vocalist, Janelle Monae offered thoughts on Winehouse and cited their first encounter with one another in an upcoming interview.

In a Q&A session with VIBE magazine, the Kansas City native complimented Winehouse after an initial meeting between the two pint-sized singers showed that the pair had a little bit in common. “I was honored then and I am now that I had the opportunity to share the same tour and stage with Amy this year in Brazil. Each night she came out on stage, she performed effortlessly,” shared Janelle Monae.
