The Teen Choice Awards isn't the go-to awards show for rappers but during the Sunday night show (Aug. 12), Cardi B and Young Thug were among the winners at the 2018 ceremony.

The "Be Careful" artist took home the award for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist, beating out Childish Gambino, Drake, Khalid, Nicki Minaj and Post Malone. As for Thugger, his award came in the form of Choice Song: Female Artist, thanks to his collaboration with singer Camila Cabello on "Havana."

The award is Cardi B's first Teen Choice Award, although the artist was also nominated for Choice Collaboration, Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song, Choice Latin Song and Choice Summer Song at this year's show.

It's also Young Thug's first time winning a Teen Choice Award. Later this month, the rapper will have a chance at winning an MTV Video Music Award when "Havana" competes for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop and Best Choreography this month.

In related news, while Cardi B continues to adjust to mommy duties, the rapper is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new project. During a recent Instagram Live session, the New York artist said she's leaning toward a Sept. 1 release for an Invasion of Privacy follow-up.

According to Cardi, the upcoming project will feature songs that didn't make the cut on her debut album. “There’s about five songs that I was supposed to put on Invasion of Privacy but they didn’t fit and make sense,” she said. "So I’m gonna put it on this project that I really want to put out on Sept. 1, but I’m missing like four or five songs.”

As for Thugger, the Atlanta rhymer is also preparing to drop a new project called Slime Language. While Thug has yet to share the tracklist, he did reveal Gunna, Lil Duke, Lil Uzi Vert, Jacquees and more will be featured on the record.
