6ix9ine should be counting his blessings, as he continues to avoid any major issues in his ongoing legal drama. After being released a week early from Rikers Island in New York to turn himself in to police in Texas then posting bail there, the "Gummo" rapper has now had a felony assault charge reduced.

According to a July 16 report from TMZ, 6ix9ine's felony assault on an officer charge has been reduced to a basic misdemeanor after the alleged injuries the officer suffered weren't severe enough to warrant a felony charge. The rhymer was facing up to seven years in prison. He now only faces up to one year.

The incident happened in May after a traffic stop in New York City, where police say 6ix9ine grabbed and squeezed a lieutenant's hand after they tried to place handcuffs on him. The "Billy" artist denied the claims, saying he was the one who was assaulted by the police.

News of 6ix9ine's charge reduction comes after the rapper turned himself in to authorities in Harris County, Texas and quickly posted the $5,000 bail. 6ix9ine was charged with misdemeanor assault following a January incident where he allegedly chocked a 16-year-old boy at a mall in Houston.

The rapper was originally sent to Rikers Island in New York but left after posting the $150,000 bail. 6ix9ine then had to surrender himself to Texas police and was freed after posting bond once again. An arraignment has been scheduled for Friday (July 20).
