Safaree Breaks Down in Tears as He Describes Being Robbed at Gunpoint
Police have reportedly arrested two suspects in connection to the robbery of Safaree, which the rapper tearfully announced during an interview released on Power 105 today (April 3).
NYPD informed TMZ that the suspects didn't go far before they were apprehended, but put up a good fight. Police chased them from where the robbery reportedly took place in Fort Lee, N.J., across the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan. The suspects reportedly then crashed their car and fled, but were captured a few blocks apart.
Safaree claims they stole $183,000 of cash and jewelry. Hopefully Safaree is feeling better and is reunited with his belongings.
A recent interview between Safaree and Angie Martinez of Power 105 got off to a strange start when the rapper started crying before the radio host could even ask her first question.
Martinez could see Safaree was visibly upset and asked the rapper if he was OK. According to Safaree, he was robbed at gunpoint just hours before the interview on April 2. "I just got robbed at gunpoint," he said. "Couple hours ago I just got robbed. Two dudes with guns just ran up on me. Me, face down on the floor with a gun to my head. They just took everything."
It's not Safaree's first time being involved in violence. Last year, the rapper was allegedly jumped by my Meek Mill and his crew. While the Philadelphia artist denied his role in the brawl, Safaree still placed the blame on him.
“Listen, straight up, I hopped out the whip. Saw Meek, he hopped out the whip. Then I just got snuck,” he said. “Niggas jumped me. A whole bunch of niggas. Meek, you are the biggest pussy on this planet. You saw me. You ain’t do shit. You got your niggas to jump me. One-on-one, you can’t fuck with me. So that’s why you had to do that. Niggas caught me from the back. Niggas caught me from the side. All that.”
While it's uncertain what actually happened to Safaree during his latest incident, details should be revealed when the full interview with Martinez airs at 3 p.m. EST today (April 3). Check out a clip of the sit-down below.
