Fabolous was scheduled to appear in front of a New Jersey judge on Wednesday (April 18) for his domestic violence case but was instead given a new date after his lawyer asked for a delay at the last minute.

According to an April 18 report from Bossip, the Brooklyn rapper is now scheduled to return to court in mid-May after the judge gave him a three-week delay. Bergen County, N.J. court officials confirmed the delay but wouldn't reveal why Fab's legal team asked for one.

The domestic violence incident is believed to have taken place on March 7 after Fab allegedly texted his longtime girlfriend Emily Bustamante and told her he wanted to kill her and hit her in the head with a baseball bat. After receiving the the text, Emily B reportedly sent her father and brother to her Englewood, N.J. house to retrieve two handguns the rapper had there.

According to footage that later surfaced, Fabolous arrived at the house while Emily B's family was there and threatened the father and brother with a knife, adding that he had a bullet for both of them. The rapper also reportedly punched Emily B seven times in the head.

After turning himself in on March 28, Fab was charged with aggravated assault and making a terroristic threat. The artist has since been released with a citation but faces three to five years in prison for the aggravated assault charge.

While Fab hasn't publicly commented on the incident, he did thank his fans for the support during a March 31 concert in New York. "I came out tonight for y'all," he told the crowd at the Terminal 5 venue. "I made sure I had to be here tonight for y'all. I love y'all New York City. Thank y'all for the love and support, much love."
