Nicki Minaj’s Verse on Tory Lanez’s “Shooters” Surfaces
That missing verse from Nicki Minaj that was supposed to make it onto Tory Lanez's track "Shooters" is finally here. After the Toronto vocalist lost out on a feature from Minaj for the record due to a misconstrued text exchange, fans are getting a taste of what the original record could have sounded like at its initial release.
The verse appears to have leaked on Youtube yesterday (March 21). On her verse, Nicki starts off by serenading how she wants to go out trapping with her girlfriends, while also advising women to stop giving clowns attention. She even makes a reference to her verse on Yo Gotti's "Rake It Up" record, where she originally tells men to "turn your goofy down."
"New bae alert, we ain't fuckin' with the clowns," she rhymes. "Didn't I just tell 'em to go turn they goofy down?"
During an interview earlier this month with The Breakfast Club, Tory originally said that Nicki wanted her verse taken off of "Shooters" after he came off poorly in their text exchange regarding the song. While reading his critique of her verse, which Lanez admits could he could have handled much better, Nicki demanded it be taken off the track altogether, hence why the "Pieces" rapper tackles it solo.
“She was originally on ‘Shooters’ and she did an incredible verse," he explained. "I was asking her about the verse, about changing something around because of where you placed the hook at…through the text it kinda came off like I was trying to critique her verse…and she really wasn’t rocking with it and she was like take my verse off the song. ”
