Nipsey Hussle Calls Out Radio Stations for Not Playing “FDT”
While "Fuck Donald Trump" may just be one of the Top 10 political hip-hop records of all time, the anti-president track has done more harm than good for Nipsey Hussle and YG, who created it. Hussle is calling out a few radio stations for failing to play the track.
Since Nipsey Hussle and YG dropped their collaborative effort last year during 2016's infamous Trump presidential campaign, both California artists have been under scrutiny by the government and Trump supporters, with "FDT" becoming a distant memory because a majority of hip-hop stations refuse to play it. And judging by Nipsey's latest social media post, he has had enough.
Yesterday (Sept. 5), Nipsey went on Instagram and referred to popular rap radio stations and their on-air jockeys as "hoes" for not supporting the record. "We did our job as artist!! Y'all ain't doing y'all job as Djs and radio stations!! Whas y'all stance?" he wrote, mentioning radio stations Hot 107.9, Power 106 and Hot 97.
While "FDT" does get plays during the multiple anti-Trump protests across the nation (and when O.T. Genasis decides to crip walk in front of the White House), Nipsey feels DJs should have no issue playing it because it was a song him and YG "stood out on the limb for."
This morning, Nipsey phoned into Power 106's The Cruz Show and addressed it all after calling them out in his post. "We gotta be radical sometimes. All of us. Not just artists. Everybody," Nip stated while admitting he realizes now how his tone may have offended his media supporters. "It was out of passion," he added.
In the end, Power 106 simple requested Nipsey and YG provide a cleaner, radio-friendly version that could played during their shows, to which Nipsey agreed. Hopefully it'll keep the Secret Service off YG's back, too.
