The come up is one of the most exciting aspects of hip-hop. A relatively unknown or underdog overcomes adversity or a lack of resources and finds the willpower within themselves to beat the odds, be crowned a champion and partake in its spoils. One of the more recent figures in hip-hop to find himself on the other side of the come-up is DJ Khaled. He's a veteran DJ and tastemaker who just recently reached the peak of his success and popularity after more than a decade of keeping his name in the mix while coping with the trials and tribulations that come with life in the industry.

Khaled first gained traction during the early aughts due to his reputation in the Miami rap scene and his affiliation with Fat Joe's Terror Squad faction. He released his debut album, Listennn... the Album, on Koch Records, where he would continue to release compilation albums of collaborations he helped mastermind, turning him into one of the more powerful liaisons in hip-hop. In 2011, Khaled would take his talents to Cash Money Records, releasing three albums before splitting with the label in 2014. However, 2015 would be a year of transition for DJ Khaled, as the head of We The Best would see his star rise due to social media antics and a zen-like air of positivity and gratitude that captivated and intrigued the public, culminating in his ninth studio album, Major Key, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earning him a gold plaque.

Having climbed the ranks and completed his come up, DJ Khaled returns with Grateful, the highly-anticipated follow-up to Major Key, and an album dedicated to his newborn son Asahd, who appears on the album's cover and is credited as executive producer. Featuring appearances from A-list superstars like JAY-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin Beiber, Drake, Future, Nas, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and Migos, Grateful is easily among the more blockbuster releases of 2017 and is sure to make a heavy impact on radio, the clubs and beyond throughout the next few months.

After checking out what Khaled, Asahd and company have cooked up, we share 20 of the hottest lyrics from Grateful that piqued our interest. Enjoy.
