It's a sad day for family, friends and fans of Southern rapper Grip Plyaz, as he has reportedly passed away from cancer. The beloved Atlanta indie pioneer has been battling the illness for over a year, but loved ones and friends are coming forward on social media to report that he lost the battle earlier this week.

While details surrounding his reported death are still scarce, many are celebrating his life and sending out their condolences to his family on Twitter. He was a staple on the Atlanta circuit,

Back in March 2016, a GoFundMe was created by his team to help fund the surgeries and medical expenses that the MC needed to help fight cancer. While doctors originally found a cancerous tumor in Plyaz's upper leg, which they successfully removed, a CT scan soon discovered cancerous polyps attacking other vital organs in his body. Ever since then, he has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment to try and defeat the illness, with many reaching out to try and help with his finances.

The cancer unfortunately kept Plyaz from giving fans consistent music over the years, though his 2012 mixtape Purp, Wind & Fire made an impact in the Atlanta underground scene at the time. He also dropped ReTurnt to Sender back in 2014. You can peep more of his discography over at his Bandcamp.
