Killer Mike Tells Americans to Stay Vigilant in the Face of Donald Trump’s Election Win
Killer Mike, who is perhaps the most outspoken rapper on issues concerning black American communities, was a guest on The Real Tuesday night (Nov. 8) speaking on the election results that won Donald Trump the presidency. "I knew that people were mad enough to do things that I hadn’t expected them to do. So I saw people who look like me and you say they were voting Trump and that scared me. It scared me a lot," he says in the above clip.
Below meanwhile, he speaks encouragingly to those upset with Trump's victory, telling them not to give up on their fight for progress. "This is potentially the grandest Republic to have ever existed," he said. "And it can keep existing if we realize a Republic, like a human body, grows and it transforms and it becomes something else. So what you guys have to do is stay vigilant about making sure this country’s progressing. We’re definitely going to see a female president in our lifetime."
Mike as well tried to explain the anger that's bubbled up among working class families. "I think poor white people are mad because the system that promises you something based on that isn’t going to ever give you that… They work for a party and have voted for a party that used the illusion of patriotism, that used the illusion of military, that used the illusion of being better by skin color and class to oppress them," he said.
