DJ Khaled has an ill come up story of being raised in New Orleans to Palestinian parents, and having a history with the likes of Cash Money Records and 2 Live Crew back in the '90s. But who knew Mr. We The Best also cut his teeth as a ball boy for the Orlando Magic where he took advantage of his proximity to the players by selling them his mixtapes?

During a recent interview with Sama'an Ashrawi for Revolt, Khaled reminisced about this detail of his humble beginnings. "I used to live in Orlando, and I actually was a ball boy for the Magic, and I used to sell my mixtapes back in the locker rooms to the players," Khaled recounted.

The plan apparently worked well. "Every time an NBA player pulled up to the parking lot, they were bumping that DJ Khaled mixtape," he added.

Khaled used the position to his advantage, and was able to get close to players like Shaquille O'Neal who was new to the NBA at the time. "It was a great experience for me because I got to see these guys come from the bottom, like when Shaq first got signed to Orlando," Khaled remembered. "And then still be his friend, and when I see him and show love and salute, he know where I come from, meaning from the bottom, hustling this music."

Clearly, Khaled's hustle has paid off. As the most recent example, last month he earned his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with the LP Major Key. The song "For Free" featuring Drake also peaked at No. 1 on the singles chart.
