Sad news out of Chicago this morning, as Fake Shore Drive is reporting that local hip-hop producer and artist Smylez has passed away after suffering a brain aneurysm. Smylez worked with a number of Chicago artists such as King Louie, Young Chop, Lil Jo Jo and more, with Lil Mister and Rico Recklezz remembering their fallen comrade via social media below.

"THIS SHIT JUS HURT MY HEART RIP MY BOY U BELIEVED IN ME LIKE A MF IM SALTY IM PAST HURT 069 KEEP YALL HEAD UP," Rico wrote on Instagram. Lil Mister meanwhile posted a since deleted video to Instagram of himself pouring one out for Smylez, writing, "I promise ima Make It For Us get a way for all of da guyz to eat Now I gotta look out for my nephew."

Earlier this month, Smylez released the video for "Rey Mysterio" off his project Drill for a Deal, which dropped this July. King Louie and Rico Recklezz were both featured on it.

Additional details surrounding his death are unavailable at this time, though based on his Instagram feed, it does appear he had a young son. All condolences extended to the friends and family who mourn his passing. Social media reactions from those who knew and worked with Smylez are included below, while a sampling of some of his production is a bit further down courtesy of YouTube.
