Two rappers are better than one. In the spirit of healthy rap game competition, rappers collaborate for full-length mixtapes and albums all the time. Whether it's a full-on crew compilation or just two or three MCs going bar for bar, hip-hop has been replete with joint projects over the years.

The Firm's 1997 project, The Albumshowcased Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ and Nature as a team of lyrical forces to be reckoned with. The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was a fitting soundtrack for the era of gangsta rap that reigned over the East Coast.

Method Man and Redman have created an entire career off being double trouble on wax. After getting in the studio and goofing around on tracks for years, 1999's Blackout! was a welcome treat for fans of the comedic duo.

When Madlib and MF Doom formed the against-the-grain duo Madvillain in 2004, and dropped their debut collab album, Madvillainy, they formed a perfect union in the eyes of underground rap fans. Madlib's experimental production matched with Doom's free flowing lyricism created a critically acclaimed hip-hop masterpiece.

In 2011, Kanye West and Jay Z made many rap dreams come true with their collab album Watch the Throne. From "Otis" to ""No Church in the Wild"" to "Niggas in Paris," the rock-influenced mashup of Jay and 'Ye for 12 tracks stands as one of the most successful joint albums of the new millennium.

So, in the tradition of great collab projects, XXL asked the people which rumored collabs they want to come to fruition this year. Much like the most anticipated projects of the year, this list is a mixture of staff picks and fan-tweeted reactions. From first time collabs on record to mixtapes that have been tucked away for years, these are the hip-hop joint projects fans really want to hear before 2016 is over.
