Since Gucci Mane’s been home, he’s had his hand almost everywhere, recording two album, releasing a number of music videos and signing on to star opposite Benicio Del Toro and Al Palcino in the new Harmony Korine-directed film The Trap. But that’s not all for Guwop, as publisher Simon & Schuster has confirmed with The Fader that the rapper is working on an as yet untitled memoir.

“Simon & Schuster is thrilled to publish Gucci’s story in his own words,” a spokesperson for the publisher said in a statement. “Gucci Mane is one of the most influential and revered hip hop artists in the world. His impact on American music is profound. This will be a major memoir revealing the life and times of the artist and man, chronicling his youth, ascent to the top of the Atlanta trap scene, incarceration, struggles with addiction and personal rebirth.”

Word of the book first circulated after GQ made mention of the deal in a recent Gucci profile, with a rep for Simon & Schuster declining to get into any of the financial specifics of it. Gucci is releasing his second album in four months when Woptober drops on Oct. 17, with features from Travis Scott, Rick Ross and Young Dolph. The video for that Dolph collab, “Bling Blaww Burr,” dropped late last week.

Gucci’s memoir has real potential to join the ranks of the below books, all written by rappers, with his legacy and imprint on hip-hop culture continuing ton with these many new ventures.
