Power star Naturi Naughton was a guest on Marc Lamont Hill's new talk show and the subject of this month's VH1 Hip Hop Honors came up with Lamont sharing some after party chatter. As he tells it, Lil Kim, who was among the female musicians honored at the ceremony doesn't want to hear about or be near Naughton, who portrayed Kim in the 2009 Biggie biopic Notorious.

"The shade is real, I don’t understand it," Naughton says in the above clip. "All I know is I had the pleasure and honor of playing Lil Kim in the film Notorious. My thing is, I was a first time actress in a film, this was the beginning of my career. I was a little black girl from Jersey, why not uplift and support that? I’ve always appreciated and loved her work and wish her nothing but the best. I don’t have any beef, that’s the thing."

The actress isn't holding any grudges, and following her role in Notorious, she scored gigs in Mad Man, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and the above mentioned Power, so whatever Kim's gripe was with the performance isn't universal. Considering 50 Cent's disdain for some members of the Bad Boy family though, perhaps the through lines on this one run deep. Watch Naughton's comments in the Instagram video included up above., with Power airing on Starz Sunday night's at 9 p.m. EST.
