Vic Mensa made an appearance on Power 106's The Cruz Show as he goes through the promotional rounds of his There's Alot Going On EP. Around 22 minutes into the above video, host J Cruz wanted to see if Vic was up for a freestyle. The Chicago rapper did him one better and kicked it a capella.

"This for the kids on the corners in the blocks/Like Mount Rushmore for the soldiers on the rocks/The vets that come back with a body full of bullets/And a mind full of movies they the only that watched/The shorties in the water tryna come across the border/Tryna find a way to swim around the big black gates/They grow up to bang, MS-13/With they bandana on and they tats in their face/The kid in Arkansas with a strap in his backpack/Looking for a basketball player he could clap at/The high school star turned to Wheelchair Jimmy/They young mother with her children on the train/Feeding 'em hot Cheetos and Cool Ranch Doritos/She take 'em downtown when she go to see her P.O./She got five kids like Mike, Jermaine and Tito/The little league player from Jackie Robinson/That got the title robbed from him while the world was watching him/Go to school and learn all about George Washington/Never learned a thing about the nigga that fathered him/" Vic Mensa raps.

Vic Mensa was not there to simply flex some flashy bars as his freestyle came with a powerful message about the various struggles people go through in America. The entire interview is just as poignant as Vic touches more than his new EP with thoughts on depression, police brutality and the rollout of Kanye West's The Life of Pablo.
