DJ White Owl, known for his mixtapes and the tag "DJ White Owl, drop that!" has passed away, as first confirmed by his friend and artist Pokerface on Instagram. "Rest in Peace Rob," he wrote. "I'll see you on the other side. Just gotta be strong and tell you thank you. See you in heaven my brother."

While specifics regarding his passing have yet to come out, plenty in hip-hop have expressed their condolences and sadness at the news. DJ Green Lantern offered his RIPs on Twitter, while Joe Budden shook his head on the social site. "Yo and Dj white owl too !!???" Cardo wrote. "Nah man ... Can't be serious use to cop his mixtape faithfully." Statik Selektah meanwhile honored the fallen DJ's work ethic, writing, "He had his own lane of hustle."

In his time, DJ White Owl had premiered tracks by Lil Wayne, the Diplomats, Nipsey Hussle, D Block and others. Boston's DJ Beanz wrote in Instagram of White Owl, "Hes one of the reasons I wanted to be dope in the #mixtape game! Last year he won the award Im up for now. Makes it that much more of an honor.
