Miami's Art Walk at Wynwood is set to take place this upcoming weekend, and while some art has inherent shock value to it, the most shocking news coming from South Beach has to do with a musical performer. The Miami New Times is reporting that DMX has been booked to perform at House Nightclub Saturday night (May 14) what the publication refers to as "not explicitly a gay club" but notes that it is known to cater heavily to LGBT clientele.

While the country, and hip-hop as well, has expanded its tolerance and adopted newly progressive societal ideologies, it nonetheless surprising to imagine DMX stepping foot in let alone taking the stage at such a venue. The rough-voiced rapper has always put his masculinity at the forefront of his career, surrounding himself with tougher than most canines and repeatedly referencing homosexuality in a derogative manner. On "Where the Hood At?," X raps "I show no love, to homo thugs / Empty out, reloaded, and throw more slugs / How you gonna explain fuckin' a man? / Even if we squashed the beef, I ain't touchin ya hand."

Making matters all the more peculiar, X is slated to open for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne. The New Times writes that details remain scarce and that interview requests have thus far gone unanswered. We're all for rappers turning a new leaf and putting their most accepting foot forward, but this announcement is likely to leave more than a few curious as to the how and why things came together as they did. Tickets ranging from $13 to $1,070 are available now.
