Rappers entering the restaurant game is hardly anything new. From Jay Z to Rick Ross, getting a piece of the dining establishment pie is typically a go-to move for ascending rap stars, but rarely do they attempt to enter the market with as traditional an idea as the one Despot just announced.

"I'm opening a Jewish deli with some of my friends tomorrow," the rapper wrote on Instagram beneath a photo of himself posing in front of both a car with Lamborghini doors and Frankel's, the aforementioned delicatessen. "You may be familiar with some of them. It's called frankel's. I haven't said much about it. Now I am. It's at 631 Manhattan Ave in greenpoint. The food is jewlicious. Come hang out with me there tomorrow and forever. This is not an April fools joke. I forgot that was today. You're an April fools joke." At least one of those friends is El-P.

To the unaccustomed, Jewish deli's typically skirt the traditional pairing of meat and cheese on a sandwich as it violates the religion's kosher laws of eating. A Jewish deli need not itself be completely kosher, but would feature such staples as pastrami, brisket and corned beef. Other culinary items include potato knishes, matzo ball soup and, of course, pickles.

Perhaps the most famous Jewish deli in New York is Katz's, which has served Lower East Side diners since 1888. Frankel's though will be opening in Greenpoint on the corner of Bedford Ave and Manhattan Ave tomorrow, Saturday April 2. Read and see Despot's Instagram announcement up top.
