Lupe Fiasco has decided that Roy will serve as his last album. The Chicago rapper took to Twitter today (Jan. 8) to announce that his upcoming album Roy would be his final one. This comes just a few weeks after Lupe Fiasco announced his intentions to release three albums in 2016.

Roy was the last of the albums that Lupe Fiasco listed in his promise of three LPs in 2016. The other two projects are scheduled to be titled Drogas and Skulls. This news of Roy being his final album does contradict Lupe Fiasco's previous statement that he would release The Cool 2 in winter 2017.

Obviously, plans can change. But Lupe Fiasco's latest statement on Twitter raises some questions about his release schedule. It is possible that he has abandoned his previous goal of releasing three albums in 2016. Lupe may have scaled back the ambitious plans and decided that Roy, whenever it is released, will be his final album. Another possibility is that Lupe has already scrapped any idea of creating The Cool 2, a sequel to his critically acclaimed sophomore album. Either way, Lupe's latest statement clearly contradicts his previous announcements.

It's also possible that Lupe plans to continue doing music, but simply not drop any albums after the release of Roy. EP's and mixtapes could serve as a way for Lupe to continue to deliver new music while technically not dropping a new album. This is all speculation though. Perhaps Lupe will clear the air soon, but it appears that fans can expect Roy to be his swan song.
