The Soundtrack for ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Drops in January

This past summer, the box office was blown away by the release of the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton.  With over $200 million in worldwide box office receipts, the biopic became the highest grossing film by a Black director, with F. Gary Gray leading the way.

Now that a few months have passed since Straight Outta Compton hit theaters, fans can get excited again with news that there is more to come from the flick. According to Fact, a previously unreleased soundtrack, score and director's cut of the film will be released in January. The two-disc vinyl soundtrack will feature a string of remastered N.W.A. tracks, including "Express Yourself," "Fuck tha Police," and "Quiet On Tha Set", as well as solo efforts by the group's members. It will also include music from the funk/soul group Parliament-Funkadelic.

The Straight Outta Compton: Original Motion Picture Score consists of 17 songs composed and conducted by Joseph Trapanese. Both the soundtrack and score will be released on digital platforms and CD on Jan. 8th, 2016. Before they drop, the director's cut of the movie will come to digital HD on Jan. 5, followed by Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand versions on Jan. 19. It will feature deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes clips and commentary from Gray.
