Straight Outta Comptonthe biopic about Compton rap collective N.W.A, is set to hit theaters this Friday (Aug. 14). In preparation for the movie,Vanity Fair asked Ice Cube to review fans' annotations of his lyrics on N.W.A's track "Straight Outta Compton" on Rap Genius. For the most part, fans were spot on with what Cube was trying to say. But there were some he didn't agree with. One in particular was an annotators' interpretation of his “cook em in a pot like gumbo” lyrics. "Cube's gumbo recipe substitutes the flesh of his enemies for the andouille sausage," reads the annotation. The user was close to what the Compton rapper was trying to say, but not quite. "This is more a threat about taking my enemies and actually cooking they ass inside of my gumbo," Cube said. "No substitutes. Just sucka MCs inside the gumbo."

Another interpretations he didn't agree with was an user annotation of his lyrics of the latter half of his verse. "Until them dumb motherfuckers see clearly/That I'm down with the capital C-P-T/Boy, you can't fuck with me/So when I'm in your neighborhood, you better duck." The user who tried to explain these bars was wrong, so in response Cube said, "I'm a crazy motherfucker named Ice Cube. And I'm coming from a crazy ass gang, so get your ass out the way."

However, there were annotations Ice Cube did agree were spot on, such as the interpretations of his iconic opening bars in his verse. "Straight outta Compton, crazy motherfucker named Ice Cube/From the gang called Niggas Wit Attitudes/When I'm called off, I got a sawed-off/Squeeze the trigger and bodies are hauled off," received a proper annotation. It's quite comical to hear Cube read his gangster verses aloud in a casual tone. Watch the video above. It's pretty hilarious.
