Today, July 6, is the birthday of New York's own Joell Ortiz. Joell is now 38.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ortiz brought his Puerto Rican culture to the forefront of the hip-hop world. Ortiz dropped her debut effort, The Brick: Bodega Chronicles, in 2007 under E1 Music where he worked with Akon, Immortal Technique, Big Daddy Kane and more. As a member of the East Coast group Slaughterhouse with Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Royce da 5'9", Ortiz signed with Eminem's Shady Records in 2011 and the crew dropped their debut, Welcome to: Our House, in 2012.

Now a vet in the game, Joell is known for his gritty, hard hitting rhyme flow and his animated Brooklyn bravado. Never one to settle on his rep, Ortiz has been dropping singles lately and matched up his talents with the producer !llmind this time last year, dropping the collab album collaborative album, Human.. Oritz also linked up with fellow Hispanic rappers Nitty Scott and Bodega Bamz to form the rap trio No Panty in 2016.

Happy Birthday, Joell Ortiz!
