Today, former New England Patriots tight end and All-American football player at Florida was found guilty of first degree murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd in Massachusetts. During his professional career, Hernandez was seen as blossoming into a superstar and a seriously great option for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady alongside fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski. But following his arrest, details of his personal life revealed a different person than the player who ran through defenses on the field, and today, after deliberating since April 7, a jury of his peers convicted him of murder which comes with a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Obviously, with such a high-profile player and case involving a former member of the current Super Bowl champions, hip-hop had plenty to say. Here are some of the reactions from rappers, producers and personalities following this morning’s sentence.
