Today, April 8, is the birthday of tiny but mighty female rapper DeJ Loaf. Hailing from Detroit, the pint sized MC has made a big impact in hip-hop in the last two years.

Rapping for fun since high school, DeJ began to record professionally in 2011. Her infectious single, "Try Me" became a viral sensation in 2014 that spilled over to the mainstream, landing at number 45 on the Billboard 200. "Try Me" has been remixed by Remy Ma, Wiz Khalifa and more, which only expanded Loaf's exposure and connected her to some of the biggest names in hip-hop. Always one to rep her hometown heavy, Dej was the only female featured on Eminem's 2014 compilation single "Detroit vs. Everybody."

With two mixtapes, a deal with Columbia Records and major hip-hop cosigns from Drake, Big Sean and Nicki Minaj behind her, Lil Loaf earned a spot on the 2015 XXL Freshman class. DeJ graced the cover with Fetty Wap, K Camp, Tink and more.

Since the cover, DeJ has traveled the world touring and dropped two EP's, And See That's The Thing and All Jokes Aside. Her most recent project is her early 2017 collaboration mixtape with Jacquees, Fuck a Friend Zone.

Happy Birthday, DeJ Loaf!
