Common's acting resume is filling up fast. The Oscar-winning MC is co-starring in a new film titled Every Secret Thing which hits theaters next month. Common will show off his acting chops alongside the likes of Elizabeth Banks and Dakota Fanning in the drama about a detective who is haunted by her past and must confront the same eerie issue when it arises eight years later. The film is directed by Amy Berg, written by Nicole Holofcener and is based off a novel penned by Laura Lippman.

Common's film agent has been really busy lately. It was recently reported Spike Lee was looking to cast the rapper for his new movie Chiraq a film that will presumably center around Chicago and its well-documented troubles with gun violence. Director Lee Daniels also recently said he would be casting Common in the second season of the hit Fox series Empire, along with Oprah. According to IMDB, he is also starring in an action/thriller film titled Hunter Killer which is in pre-production and will co-star Gerad Butler, Willem Dafoe and Billy Bob Thornton.

Common recently played in the film Selma and won an Academy Award for the Best Original Song with the John Legend assisted track, "Glory." He also co-stars in Jaume Collet-Serra’s new movie Run All Night.

Every Secret Thing hits theaters May 15.
