Today, March 5, is the 40th birthday of longstanding New York MC Papoose.

Born and bred in Brooklyn, Papoose burst onto the scene in 2005 and is still making waves in hip-hop today. Pap memorably bodied his verse on Busta Rhyme's "Touch It" remix in 2006.

Papoose's verse on the "Touch It" remix took off from the day it was released. Five boroughs of death, you don't understand/I got New York City in the palm of my hand," he rapped, before name dropping all of the city's boroughs. I got Staten Island on my pinky, Queens on my thumb, dude/The Bronx on my middle finger screamin' fuck you/Rock ice in Manhattan so there's the ring finger/You know I had to keep Brooklyn on the trigger finger."

Pap released his debut studio album The Nacirema Dream in 2013 to positive reviews and dropped phis sophomore album You Can't Stop Destiny in 2015. He has also appeared on Love & Hip Hop: New York with his wife, Bronx spitter Remy Ma.

Known to freely speak his mind and lay his feelings down on a track, hip-hop has grown to love the whimsical antics that the rapper quite often unleashes. Also known for celebrating hip hop legends throughout the course of his career, today it's time to celebrate Papoose.

Happy Birthday Pap!
