The U.S. State Department has identified German rapper Deso Dogg as an international terrorist with close ties to ISIS, according to an NBC report. Last September, German intelligence officials prepared a 25-page dossier on the rapper, in which he was referred to as a "well-known German-speaking demagogue of the armed Jihad." The State Department reports that he is currently wanted in Germany on war crimes charges; American officials also said that he is "emblematic of the type of foreign recruit" that ISIS (also known as the Islamic State or ISIL) prizes.

Born Denis Cuspert, Deso Dogg has since changed his name to Abu Talha al-Almani. Intelligence reports suggest that he began his involvement with ISIS in or around 2012, after having been radicalized in Germany by members of the Salafist movement. Last year, several major media outlets reports that al-Almani had died; the State Department now says these reports are believed to be incorrect, and that the former rapper is still an active member of the terrorist organization.

As Deso Dogg, al-Almani enjoyed varying degrees of commercial success. In 2006, he briefly joined DMX on tour, before removing himself due to what he described as mental instability. His exact whereabouts are currently unknown.
