The N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton is more than five years in the making. So it is understandable that Ice Cube jumped the gun when he leaked the trailer to the unfinished film to a thrilled crowd in Australia late last year. It's fair to say even more momentum for the film was built by the off the cuff stunt. The movie's producer Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like A Man, Takers, Obsessed) recently chopped it up with Collider, and gave some updates on the project including what he though about Cube's premature showing.

According to Packer, the film is still in the editing stages, but he is sure fans will love the final version. "We are still working on F. Gary Grey's cut," he said. "But I'm excited about that movie. That movie is going to deliver." As for Cube's early showing of the trailer, Packer said, "Cube does what he does. And nobody does it like Cube. That's what I'll say. Cube is the man. We back him. And I love the fact that it's out there and it's getting the response it's getting."

Straight Outta Compton is slated to debut in theaters this August.
