Houston rapper DoughBeezy was attacked during a home invasion Tuesday evening (Jan. 20). Rapture Recordz Dwan Banks was pulling into the driveway of her home when she said she saw Beezy, whose real name is Tai Carr, fending off two would-be robbers in front of her house. The Houston rapper, who is friends with Banks' son, later explained he saw one of the men hiding outside Banks' home earlier in the day and confronted him. According to Banks, Carr was able to retrieve a gun from his car during the scuffle outside her house, shooting one of the attackers and killing him. The second home invader ran off and was later apprehended at a local Wendy's, where he was found hiding.

DoughBeezy posted then deleted the photo above on his Instagram account, which showed the injuries he suffered from the attack.

"My life was almost taken from me last night. I was able to fight my way out the car before being pistol whipped. That's when God made a way for [me] to break loose and make it back to my trunk for my pistol. My daughter will be born in a week and if it wasn't for God, I wouldn't be here to see her take her first breath."

According to the Houston Chronicle, Beezy was fighting with the men in his car and made his way out before he was pistol whipped, at which time Banks pulled into the driveway. The extra second that came with the distraction allowed Beezy to grab the pistol and thwart the home invasion. The surviving suspect is being held without bail on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

This incident is the second fatal shooting in the Cottage Grove community in the last two weeks. Authorities are investigating whether or not the two are connected.
