Earlier this month, news broke about music's power couple plotting on a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion priced at $85 million. But it seems like they weren't able to lean on their status to win the bidding war on the home. According to a recent TMZ report, Jay Z and Beyoncé lost out on the home to 35-year-old Swedish video game programmer Markus Persson.

Persson, who earned $2.5 billion after selling his company Mojang (creator of the popular video game Minecraft) to Microsoft, reportedly bought the 23,000 square foot home for $70 million. Although the couple made visits to the mansion plenty of times, they could not...or would not top his bid of $70 million.

Now that Los Angeles might be out of the picture, maybe the power couple will move to the U.K. to—you know—be closer to their new friends Prince William and Kate Middleton.
