Last year, MTV's annual Video Music Awards got a huge lift by essentially—and smartly, it should be said—putting on a superhero costume and morphing from the VMAs into the Beyonce Music Awards, with a concluding performance of Queen Bey's self-titled album that left us with possibly the greatest gif that has ever been gif'd.

Of course, the award show also featured plenty of other hip-hop highlights—Nicki Minaj's double performances (and wardrobe malfunction), Common's touching tribute to Ferguson, Juicy J and Katy Perry accepting an award together and RiFF RAFF's denim whatever-you-call-it that he wore on the red carpet. So fans have reason to be excited about the 2015 iteration, which MTV announced this morning will be held on Aug. 30. After 2013's brief trial run at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, last year the awards show returned to Los Angeles, though there's no word yet on where this year's show will take place.

In addition, MTV also announced the dates for the mtvU Woodie Awards (Mar. 20 at SXSW in Austin), Movie Awards (Apr. 12), MTV2 FanFest (July 9 at ComicCon in San Diego) and Logo TV's Trailblazers award (June 28).

More details on the VMAs will come as the date gets closer, but until then enjoy that gif of Jay Z and Blue Ivy. Please.
